Books We're Currently Reading
I don't oft post what books we're reading. I always love a expert book recommendation, then I thought I would share our current reading list for both the boys and for myself!
Reading-Aloud to the Boys
Nosotros read a lot of books throughout the class of a calendar week, but both of the boys really enjoy reading the same books over and over once more. Here are just a few that they take been enjoying:
We bought Big Brother a gear up of theImagination Stationbooks for his altogether. They are like to theMagic Treehouseseries (which Big Brother too loves) with an added Christian element featuring the beloved characters of Adventures in Odyssey(which I listened to until I was in high school!). I normally read a chapter or two at tiffin time to go along the boys focused on eating and planted in their seats. Little Brother isn't old enough for them, but he seems to relish listening nonetheless.
Tacky the Penguinis one of the boys'due south favorite books. Needless to say, we read it over and over once more!
I ordinarily can't stand books based on pop characters (detect out why here), merely this book is an exception. Aroused Birds Playground Animals was given to our boys from a family friend and it is actually quite wonderful. The book starts off with the Angry Birds and Pigs fighting and the Pigs steal the Angry Birds's eggs. They travel to all the different habitats around the earth to try to find their eggs (meeting several different animals in each habitat in the procedure). The book is done in conjunction with National Geographic Kids, so the facts about the animals are credible and the storyline keeps the children engaged. It'due south a thick book, and then you won't exist able to read information technology all in ane sitting.
The Large Red Tractor and the Little Villageis a mod-mean solar day kid-friendly parable that has become a family favorite. It as well happens to be written by Francis Chan, 1 of my favorite authors and speakers.
What if Everybody Did That? new book that we simply received in the post yesterday. My married man doesn't remember it is that great of a volume, but I call back information technology is a good style to introduce children to the demand for rules and cause-and-result for our actions.
The Priest with Muddied Apparelis another kid-friendly parable that just arrived yesterday (my husband is getting ready to ban me from ordering books on Amazon). :) Information technology is a keen story, but probably ameliorate for school-anile children. Big Blood brother sat through it and enjoyed it, just it was much besides long for Piddling Brother.
Books for ME
Here is what I am currently reading:
A couple months ago, I asked my Facebook readers for some book suggestions for myself. I likecleanbooks that are encouraging, so it was a alpine order. One reader suggestedThe O'Malley Seriesby Dee Henderson. I already read the prequel and really liked it, so now I am on Book #1, The Negotiator. I love these books because they are suspense (which ways I can't read them right before going to bed…I am a weenie) only they are also Christian-based (so they are clean with good morals).
My friend Rachel let me borrow her copy ofSparkly Greenish Earringsand IT. IS. A. HOOT. Seriously. I'm less than halfway through (and I just started it yesterday) and have already laughed out loud several times. It is simultaneously hilarious and encouraging in my function as Christian wife and mother. If you're a mom…read information technology.
I took a intermission from Desperate for a while (for no other reason than I got busy and forgot about it), but I picked it support once again. It is wonderfully relatable and refreshing…likewise a must for moms, but for a different reason than the book I merely mentioned. :)
